INTP: The Architect
The INTP enjoys above all else autonomy and thinking analytically. INTPs possess a wealth of knowledge about a variety of subjects. They enjoy delving deep into subjects of personal interest, but also prefer switching from subject to subject. They are generalists if INTJs are specialists.
However, INTPs often do possess specialized knowledge. Not purposefully- more likely the result of subjects interesting the INTP rather than a predetermined decision to study certain subjects. They can be easily distracted, as they can become bored with one subject after too long a period of time.
The INTP, for some, is understood to be the “absent minded professor.” INTPs are typically highly intelligent individuals who may choose to devote their minds and lives to a greater purpose. They do not expect society to comprehend, sympathize, nor understand. They prefer to live a life submersed in learning and in abstract thought. The INTP is less likely than other NTs to be driven by the urge to put that knowledge to use.
INTPs have been known to make important, useful discoveries that contribute to all of mankind. When this occurs it is usually the result of random occurrences; they seem to fall upon genius-ly useful ideas. Typically such ideas do not result from purposeful seeking of such an outcome.
INTPs do not mind benefiting society, and will contribute their findings to solve a tiny part of the endless flaws and shortcomings of humanity. However, it is not usually their goal. INTPs commonly feel disconnected from all of humanity, which they see as one large mass which they themselves are just naturally not a part of. INTPs typically see this as something that just “is,” and no amount of debate will convince them otherwise. Mature INTPs find peace and may feel comfortable in their awareness.
