ESTJ: The Supervisor
ESTJs are straightforward, direct people who are very organized. They not only enjoy organizing the world around them, such as their closets and workspaces. ESTJs are excellent at organizing people, with the goal of achieving superior efficiency.
ESTJs value authority, and are very respectful of it, as other SJs. ESTJs are focused on the big picture, and how a job can be done effectively too. They are constantly aware of the external environment, looking to see whether things are running in a way that makes sense. ESTJs love systems.
ESTJs are called the Supervisor because they make good supervisors. They do not assume they should be in charge in every situation, as do their N counterpart, the ENTJ. ESTJs make such good supervisors because they are good at following rules and guidelines set by those who have authority and are also good at making sure everyone is on task.
ESTJs assume a supervisory role whenever someone else is not doing so; they do not like to cross those in charge, but if such individuals are not behaving as supervisors or seem uneasy with “what needs to be done” the ESTJ will happily step in to relieve and offer respite for a while. However, the ESTJ still will not step in usually unless those in charge have agreed that this is best.
ESTJs are hardworking, trustworthy indiviudlas. They are the people who you know you can always count on to get the job done. ESTJs will work on a task until loose ends are tie and until the project is complete. Their endurance for tasks, however repetitive and boring, is unmatchable. They are loyal to project completion almost as much as the ISTJ, but will need to socialize. The ESTJ is best when completing projects that require delegation and plenty of juggling at the administrative end.
